The UK weekly sales charts for the week ending April 30 2022 have been released by GFK. Nintendo Switch Sports has shot to number one on the charts on its week of release, beating out Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga for first place. Let’s take a look at how the charts turned out this week.

The highly anticipated addition to the Wii Sports series, the best-selling title on the Wii, Nintendo Switch Sports has capitalized on the hype and shot up to first place in its debut week despite only releasing a day before the deadline for this weeks chart. All we can do is wait and see if this game has anything close to the success of its predecessors but this is a strong initial sign for Nintendo.
Lego games continue to go strong as the Skywalker Saga was knocked off its perch but remained in second place ahead of Gran Turismo 7. Another lego title rounded out the top 15 with the Harry Potter collection staying at 15th.
Nintendo has a strong showing this week, not only taking the top spot, but also occupying the fifth, sixth, ninth, and tenth places in this week’s chart. The longer life cycle of Nintendo games keeps them in the rotation longer than most titles with older titles like Mario Kart and Animal Crossing beating off strong competition from more recent releases WWE 2K22 and FIFA 22 for spots in the top 10.
