Kojima Productions, the name behind PHYSINT and OD, has firmly rejected current online speculations regarding the Japanese video game development studio’s ties with PlayStation.
Very recently, Kojima Productions switched publishing partners for PHYSINT. The news quickly went viral, and the community started to speculate about the reasons behind this switch from PlayStation to Xbox.
Multiple sources reported that Sony canceled the project due to frustration over production budgets and missed development deadlines. Others speculated that it was the poor relationship between Kojima and PlayStation that led to this transition to Xbox.
On 20th September 2026, @KojiPro2015_EN took to their official X account to issue a statement and deny these claims.

Kojima Productions on Their Relationship With PlayStation
In their official statement, the studio mentioned that they do not usually reply to unproven online rumors. However, the speculations have gone too far and started to raise concerns in the community, so it chose to speak.
The independent development studio said that none of the claims came from any official source and urged everyone to view them with caution.
The company mentioned that the publishing situation was serious and carried real risks. But they reassured the players that the studio is healthy and profitable.
The statement clearly read that the development of PHYSINT continues with Xbox and their relationship with PlayStation remains strong.
“The studio is in a healthy, profitable state, development for PHYSINT continues to move forward with Xbox, and our relationship with PlayStation remains strong,” said Kojima Productions.
It ended the statement by thanking all the fans for their continued support.
Last Word on Kojima Productions Rejecting Online Speculation About Its Ties With PlayStation
It is rare to see Kojima Productions issuing a public statement like this. This certainly shows how much the game development company cares about its community.
As per the statement, the studio is financially healthy, and PHYSINT is in development with Xbox. However, it wasn’t always the case as Hideo Kojima himself mentioned (while talking to IGN) that Kojima Productions was on the brink of collapse and running out of cash flow after Sony abruptly cancelled funding. He also mentioned that the team intends to make it a full franchise with movies, TV shows, dramas, anime, and more.
The statement from Kojima Productions (on their X account) came shortly after Hideo Kojima’s recent statement.
