Marvel Rivals has nearly completed two years since its launch. The community has grown significantly. Although the game doesn’t have the same peak numbers as it once did, it has a more loyal player base left in the game now – a filter that eventually every multiplayer game has to pass through. However, the ones left in the game also have trouble maintaining a peaceful and respectful environment at times, turning some experiences “toxic”. Now, Marvel Rivals has issued stricter guidelines for such instances to ensure a better user experience and a healthier community environment. Although there are other issues at hand as well, NetEase is choosing to focus on the immediate problem, that is, “the throwers”.

Marvel Rivals Brings Stricter Penalties

Repeat Offenses Will Hit Harder

For one, the developers are bringing a universal change to the game. Sometimes, repeated reports against an account do nothing in Marvel Rivals, unless it’s against a cheater, who will then get reviewed and banned. However, toxic players and those who regularly throw matches get reported often, but the penalties only apply within a set limit.

However, now the developers are aiming for a stricter mass-ban policy. This means that accounts that are reported often for the same offence will get stricter penalties. This decision will help the community stay safe from players who engage in unwelcome and hostile behavior.

Quick Match Will Have Independent Penalties

Earlier, Quick Match reports shared penalties with Arcade mode. This meant that any player who got banned from playing Quick Match would not be able to queue for another Quick Match or Arcade mode match until the ban was lifted after its due countdown. But now this will change to enforce stricter bans properly.

So, players who leave either Arcade or Quick Match will have separate warnings and penalties, allowing for stricter bans.

Lastly, players who disconnect mid-battle due to genuine reasons and have suffered a penalty can reach out to the developers through customer support to appeal against the ban. After review, if the reason is found legitimate, the penalty will be lifted from the affected Marvel Rivals account.
