Though Reggie Fils-Aimé’s book had been confirmed for months, potential readers now have more information to go off. On the surface, it would appear that Disrupting the Game is geared toward gamers, not only because of the title but the aforementioned association Fils-Aimé has with the industry. However, it can’t be denied that he’s a successful businessman across various ventures, which makes this book all the more interesting. The journey of a former marketing executive at Pizza Hut becoming one of the most influential decision-makers in the video game industry will be an interesting one to explore.
It’s easy to see why there’s excitement surrounding Fils-Aimé’s book. From his E3 presentation in 2004, sparking a number of Reggie-related memes since then, to his involvement in countless Nintendo Direct videos, Fils-Aimé became as synonymous with Nintendo, from a public relations perspective, as Shigeru Miyamoto and the late Satoru Iwata. He was also passionate about the company’s various intellectual properties, The Legend of Zelda being his favorite. Disrupting the Game will be a title to keep an eye out for this spring.
