Supercell Shuts Down Main Servers, Rolls Game Back to Beta Phase

Supercell Shuts Down Main Servers, Rolls Game Back to Beta Phase

Arijit Das September 25, 2026

Supercell’s latest game, mo.co, is going back to beta, and fans are worried that the action RPG will see the same fate as Squad Busters.

On 24th September 2026, @joinmoco took to their official X account to announce that mo.co is going back to BETA after its poor performance.

Back in October 2023, Supercell held the very first limited beta test of the game for Android users in the United States.

Using a creator-driven invite code system to slowly scale server loads, the game officially launched globally on 18th March 2025. Public access opened to everyone during late 2025.

In May 2026, the game underwent a massive structural relaunch. Three months later, content updates officially scaled down.

As per Supercell, the game hasn’t performed as well as the team hoped (since its public global launch). The developers believe mo.co requires much more fundamental changes, something that minor tweaks just won’t do.

Community Manager of Supercell’s mo.co Steps Down

Despite mo.co‘s poor performance, the sudden announcement took the community by surprise. Lots of active players have taken to the comments to show their disappointment.Ā

Amid this, @JoaoInTheNorth took to his official X account to share another shocking piece of news. As a direct result of this shift from mo.co, the game will no longer have a team-embedded community manager, leading to the departure of the game’s CM, Joao.

In his latest tweet, Joao shared a farewell message expressing his gratitude to the dedicated players, content creators, and developers who have been supporting the game since 2023.

ā€œThank you to all of you, especially our most dedicated players who have been with us since earlier versions – some even coming from the 2023 beta. Thank you to all the creators who make amazing content, especially those who have stayed through quiet and uncertain times, and took a leap of faith and believed in the game to make it their main,ā€ said Joao.

While the move back to the beta seems to be a step backward, Joao mentioned that it is the best choice at the moment.

Last Word on mo.co Going Back to Beta

While Supercell’s decision to shift mo.co back to beta is unusual, it is understandable given their strict quality standards.

For the active players of the game, the news is certainly disappointing. But the decision showcases a mature willingness from the team to prioritize long-term game health.

It will certainly be difficult for Supercell to re-engage the players if the game attempts a second global launch after major fixes. That being said, if there’s one thing we can count on, it is Supercell’s proven track record of reviving and improving its games.
