PC News: EA is Cracking Down on F1 25 Mods

Arijit Das November 5, 2026

The modding community takes another massive hit as EA has officially started cracking down on mods for F1 25. In EA’s library, modding is especially popular for F1 25. There are platforms like OverTake.gg that include more than 600 files and plugins.

From the Formula Fantasy 25 to the multi-year era selection tools, there are multiple projects that are community favorites.

While the community has enjoyed many projects all these years, EA’s recent push against mod promotion means this fairytale has come to an end. On 5th November 2026, @F1GamesNews took to their official X account to share the news with the community.

It seems that the members of the EA Creator Network have been told that they can no longer mention or advertise modding websites.

Why EA Suddenly Started Pushing Against F1 25 Mods?

As of now, it seems that takedown requests have targeted mods that contain ported assets and other elements without permission.

Multiple sources suggest that EA has made this decision together with Codemasters and Formula One Management. It seems that the push is largely coming from FOM and strict licensing agreements that require the game to include current official content.

While not officially mentioned or rumored, it is likely that the success of F1 27 is one of the core reasons behind this strong decision by EA.

Since EA did not release a standalone F1 2026 game, a lot is in the works for F1 27. Naturally, this strong step taken now to ensure the success of F1 27 is understandable.

Last Word On EA Cracking Down on F1 25 Mods

EA banning mods certainly is a major risk, given they can lose a huge chunk of their dedicated player base. From free marketing to long-term engagement, there are a few benefits of the modding community from a business standpoint.

However, these benefits certainly do not outweigh the importance of license compliance and asset protection, which are the main reasons behind EA’s major step against the F1 25 modding community.
