This EA FC 27 Best Goalkeeper Cards guide will focus on how to get the most out of the position in Ultimate Team Mode. As we know by now, the overall ratings alone don’t matter for a lot of the key positions in the game with some cards just having the right mix of play styles and ratings to dominate. This time around I’ll be looking at the meta goalkeeper cards that are proving popular. EA Sports FC 27 is the latest annual release of the former FIFA series, it has received mixed reviews from players over on Steam.
EA FC 27 Best Goalkeeper Cards for Ultimate Team (Meta GKs)
Joan Garcia (Barcelona)
Currently the preferred goalkeeping option for both pro players and the common man, Joan Garcia is the one to get between the sticks. Every year there’s one shot-stoppper who stands out above the rest as being almost superhuman when you play him and Garcia is FC 27’s edition. The days of Roman Weidenfeller being the game’s best goalie are long gone but his spirit lives on in Garcia.
Giorgi Mamardashvili (Liverpool)
Slightly worse than Garcia, we have the still capable but less meta Giorgi Mamardashvili. What the former Valencia man provides is his Premier League status, making chemistry easier to incorporate with him involved in your team.
Emi Martinez (Chelsea)
Onto one of the most well-known stoppers in the game. Emi Martinez is a world cup winner and high-rated keeper who now lines up for Chelsea. There’s a significant dip in OP abilities when comparing him to Joan Garcia but he is a capable option if you pack him and don’t have the others.
Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid)
Thibaut Courtois remains one of the highest rated players in the game and that status alone will make him a popular choice to stick in goal. The actual effectiveness of his play depends largely on who you ask, he’s slowly losing popularity as a card worth buying in favour of Garcia and Mamardashvili but some still swear by him.
The Last Word
Most players you encounter on Ultimate Team for the early stretch will seemingly be favouring Joan Garcia. This can change abruptly as new players come into and out of fashion regularly but the Barcelona shot-stopper is a quality option and will take some effort to topple. The FC 27 best goalkeeper options could shift and evolve as the year goes on with each update and we will be keeping on top of it.
