The community recently received the first look at Marvel Rivals Season 10: Butcher’s Blasphemy. As the name suggests, this season is focused on Gorr: The God Butcher. However, that’s where the big surprise lies. This upcoming season, which will be live starting September 11, Friday UTC, will only feature one hero. Players will only get to play as Gorr, and Nightcrawler is not releasing this season, a disappointment to some who were expecting to see Kurt Wagner. But let’s focus on what NetEase is delivering this season, which will surely come as a welcome surprise to many fans!

New Hero and New Map For Marvel Rivals Players
Gorr: The God Butcher is releasing on September 11 as the first and only playable hero for Season 10. To some people’s surprise, he will be joining the roster as a Duelist! There were speculations that the wielder of the Necrosword would be a Vanguard, considering his stature, physique, and the ability to go toe-to-toe against heroes like Thor. But he is confirmed to be a melee Duelist.
Additionally, players will get a new Domination map called the God Quarry on September 24. Lore-wise, this is a place where all Gods go after death. Gorr is building a “God bomb” here to eradicate Gods from across the chronoverse. However, he will need God Tempest, embedded in Thor’s hammer – Mjolnir- making Gorr go after Thor.
New Events & Cosmetics in Marvel Rivals Season 10
Marvel Rivals Season 10 will also feature four brand new events! Two of these events will be cosmetic, while the other two will introduce two new game modes.
Pajama Party Events
After the September 17 update, players will be able to jump into two new events: Jeff’s Dream Eater and Jeff’s Superstar Seeking. Players can participate and earn corresponding cosmetic rewards, including costumes. A new theme being brought to the game is “Pajama Party”, which is likely to influence the cosmetic rewards received from the above-mentioned events. The following heroes have been featured in the Pajama Party theme: Daredevil, Jeff the Land Shark, Rogue, Mantis, Jubilee, Cloak & Dagger, and Magneto.
Path To Doomsday Events
On top of this, players will also get two new game modes in the form of the Phase 3 and Phase 4 Path to Doomsday events. However, these events won’t be playable until Season 10.5, and more information will be disclosed as the mid-season approaches.
Surprise: Costume Coin Returns!
Another free event that is returning for all players is “Galacta’s Gift”! Those who participate can get a Costume Coin, which can then be redeemed to buy a “launch skin” for select heroes. Although the pool of heroes was earlier limited to only the launch roster, it was expanded to include Season 1 and Season 1.5 heroes as well. Now, Guangguang has promised to include more heroes under the Costume Coin claim.
If the event is the same as before, players may also be able to exchange 1 Costume Coin for 100 Units instead. Although it’s a mediocre option, it’s good to have one for those who could really use those blue tokens without having to spend real-life money.
Major Competitive Change in Marvel Rivals Season 10
Ranked games will change vastly starting in Season 10. One of the longest-running complaints in the Marvel Rivals community was the double banning. When playing ranked, opposing teams would sometimes ban the same characters, potentially “wasting” a ban because they couldn’t tell what the other team was banning. Now, all of it changes.
Starting in Marvel Rivals Season 10, from ranks Gold 3 onward, players will follow a structured turn-based ban system. It will go as follows:
- Team A bans 1 hero; it is revealed to the enemy team.
- Team B bans 2 heroes simultaneously; they are revealed to the enemy team.
- Team A bans 2 heroes simultaneously; they are revealed to the enemy team.
- Team B bans 1 hero; it is revealed to the enemy team.
Which team will be Team A and Team B is yet to be seen; however, it would most likely be randomized.
The Last Word
Marvel Rivals Season 9 came out with the biggest update when Jubilee was added to the game. The game was essentially revamped, with some community members even calling it Marvel Rivals 2; a hilarious reference to Blizzard’s Overwatch sequel. The team-ups were the main changes in that season, though the Black Widow rework didn’t stray far from the highlight either.
