007 First Light was a much-anticipated title by the action lovers in the gaming industry. IO Interactive, responsible for a massive franchise like Hitman, helming the development for a James Bond game was the cherry on top. The game appeared to be a mix of Hitman, Uncharted, and other beloved action titles that the world has already played. However, given the current state of the industry, you can never be too sure about a project’s execution until you have experienced it firsthand.
It’s safe to say that 007 First Light fulfilled a heavy set of expectations. The campaign story, set pieces, stealth, combat, and overall gameplay were all well-received. Not to forget the protagonist, James Bond himself, who stole the show on several occasions. The game reached 3 million sales in the first two weeks of its release. After a massive player acclaim and incredible monetary success, the community wants one answer. Will there be a sequel? Looks like the head of Amazon Gaming has an answer for all.

The Word On 007 First Light’s Sequel So Far
At the Summer Game Fest, IGN had the opportunity to interview Jeff Gattis, the head of gaming at Amazon. Since MGM, owned by Amazon, published 007 First Light, his words carry credibility. While talking to him, IGN mentioned a confirmation for a potential sequel. Gattis corrected the interviewer and added:
“First of all, let me set the record straight for you. I did not confirm that Amazon Game Studios is publishing the next one. Did not say that. So unfortunately, it got picked up, and once it runs, it runs. No, IO’s been great. They’ve been great partners. In fact, I was over there visiting them in Copenhagen a couple of months ago. The game’s doing great. Let’s let the game breathe and have its day.”
However, the consumer appreciation for the new James Bond game cannot be ignored, and Jeff Gattis acknowledges it! He asks the playerbase to trust the team to make the right decision.
“Trust that we’re going to be smart about this. I mean, it’s market appetite. As long as we feel there’s a desire for players to have the game, it’s safe to say it’s going to be made.”
Just like how a smart development decision should work: if a game has demand, it should be met! Some franchises have seemingly been immortalized due to the heavy demand and consumption they face each year. Well, looks like the head of gaming at Amazon knows where the future of this game is headed.
“Seems like a sequel should be made.”
It may be a while before IOI picks up a second James Bond project. Till then, let’s allow for 007 First Light to have its time in the industry. However, the assurance by Jeff Gattis serves as a ray of hope that a sequel may be impending.
