Fable Extended Trailer Focuses on Building An Extraordinary Life
A World That Feels Alive
After giving the showcase a watch, we must say that this one’s looking like quite an impressive addition to an RPG genre that’s getting quite crowded in recent years. Fable’s looking to stay ahead of the competition by giving us a world that doesn’t merely rely on its visual splendor, though, with everything you do in it tying neatly back into the gameplay loop on offer.

For instance, NPCs in this game are going to be distinct, and there’s enough variation in their personalities to keep you on your toes. That’s always a good thing, as it often makes an RPG feel like its characters aren’t just there to pad out your time in it, but form a meaningful part of your adventure by responding dynamically to your actions. Those variations are a part of the game’s Reputation System, which you might remember was quite a big deal in the original game.
Your relationships are another fine addition to this one, and you’re going to have to nurture the bonds you make with the people you meet as you travel through Albion’s many locales. You even get to start a family with some of them, while some other relationships might need a bit of nuance to successfully navigate. We’re expecting that we’re going to have to watch what we say, and perhaps even pay attention to factors outside of conversations that could influence their outcomes.

That’s a facet of the experience made all the more relevant by the way in which your decisions play a huge role in shaping the lives of the people you interact with. You’re a hero, after all, and it makes sense that the things you do directly impact the people you’re fighting for. From a gameplay perspective, that could mean that there are some hard choices waiting for you on your path to your destiny, and you might have to live with the consequences of your actions in case things go south. Or you could just save-scum if that’s how you want to play it.
All in all, this one’s looking like one hell of a good time, and we’re on counting the days to February next year. We’re just hoping we get to play enough of GTA 6 in the interim.
