Video game developer Aspyr announced today that they are bringing Star Wars: Republic Commando to the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 on April 6th, 2021. The Pre-Order option is actually available for the Switch right now. Republic Commando is the second Star Wars game to be announced for the Switch within a week, as Star Wars: Hunters was announced as part of the latest Nintendo Direct on February 17. The game was originally published and developed for the Xbox and PC by LucasArts and will be coming to Sony and Nintendo systems for the first time with this update.
Originally, Republic Commando was set to have a sequel titled Star Wars Imperial Commando; however, the project was canceled due to studio restructuring and later, turned into a novel. Republic Commando is a first-person shooter with multiplayer options. Players assume the role of commandos in Delta Squad, who are sent out on three missions during the Clone Wars. The three missions involve the planets Geonosis and Kashyyyk, as well as the ship Prosecutor. Each of the clone commandos is thoroughly trained and considered elite. Enemies vary in each location and the commandos can use a variety of weapons to complete their missions.
