Watch Meteor Showers in Pokemon GO While Receiving Boosted Resources

Arijit Das October 3, 2026

Pokemon GO players will now be able to enjoy in-game meteor showers, courtesy of the official debut of a special ‘Meteor Pokemon.’

@PokemonGoApp took to its official X account to announce the debut of Minior. This special Pokemon will spawn through Minior showers, a series of events that will run alongside real-world meteor showers. Trainers will earn boosted Stardust on every Minior catch.

The first event, Orionids, will run from 19th October to 24th October. During this time, players will be able to catch the new pokemon.

During the event, from 5 PM to 9 PM local time, the in-game sky will be lit by shooting stars during each minor shower. While enjoying the in-game meteor showers, players will have an increased chance of encountering a Minior in the wild.

Minior cores come in seven different colors. They are red, orange, yellow, green, violet, indigo, and blue. Throughout the year, each of these will make its debut with its respective meteor shower.

Here are all the meteor shower dates:

  • Orionids: 19th October to 24th October
  • Leonids: 14th November to 19th November
  • Geminids: 11th December to 16th December
  • Eta Aquariids: 3rd May to 8th May
  • Southern Delta Aquariids: 28th July to 2nd August
  • Perseids: 10th August to 15th August

Please note that during the Geminids, different Minior cores will debut globally: one exclusive to the Southern Hemisphere and another to the Northern Hemisphere.

Minior’s Battle Mechanics in Pokemon GO

Whether you actively blast off Pokemon GO Rocket grunts or you are a veteran GO Battle player, you would certainly enjoy Minior’s way of battling.

The pokemon battles in its meteor form until its health is reduced to below 50%. After that, it changes form and exposes its core.

While being in meteor form, Minior will have higher defense and lower attack. On the other hand, it will have higher attack and lower defense when its core is exposed.

As of now, trainers can only battle with Minior in GO Battle League, Team GO Rocket grunts, and leaders.

Last Word on Meteor Showers in Pokemon GO

Scopely has certainly done justice to Minior. All of its core will have their special debut throughout the year. And players will be able to enjoy the in-game sky lit up with shooting stars.

In 2021, during GO Fest 2021 Day 2, we saw the in-game sky change for the first time, courtesy of Hoopa’s rings. Following that, we have seen the in-game skybox altered multiple times to fit the theme of major events.

The Pokemon GO community has always cherished this change during major events. Trainers all around the world get to catch pokemon against rare backdrops. But above all, this change created a shared community experience that everyone enjoys.

Since the announcement of Minior in Pokemon GO, the community is excited to experience it all over again.
