While the community prepares for the Nickit Community Day and the forthcoming events in the game, the Pokemon GO hundo Mewtwo news catches everybody off guard.
Back in July, before the GO Fest Global began, Scopely arranged an invitation-only event at Times Square for the 10th anniversary celebrations. At the event, all attendees received a perfect IV Mewtwo with an exclusive background. Some of these attendees even tried to sell their special variant Mewtwo on eBay for $500 to $5,000.
This stunt in New York did not sit well with the community, as many took to their social media to share their disappointment.
While it’s been a while since this incident took place, Scopely has finally come out to introduce fair compensation to the players. Everyone who missed out on the Times Square invite-only event will now get a perfect IV Mewtwo with a special background (with a chance of it being a shiny).
Players who were present at the 10th anniversary celebrations in Times Square are not eligible for the same reward. They’ll get something different. Let’s get into the details.

Pokemon GO Hundo Mewtwo Compensation
From 12th August 2026 to 6th September 2026, players will be able to participate in a special timed research. This is a single-page research that is relatively easy to complete. Upon completion of the tasks and the chapter, players will receive a maxed-out Mewtwo, a Master Ball, and other rewards.
Here are all the research and reward details:
- Catch 10 Pokemon: 1 Master Ball
- Power Up Pokemon 10 Times: 500x Mega Mewtwo Y Mega Energy
After you finish these two quests, you will receive the special background Mewtwo with maxed-out stats. If you are lucky, you can encounter the shiny variant. Please note that this Mewtwo will come with the third Mega Level.
The trainers who have attended the invitation-only event in Times Square will get Mewtwo candies, a random research IV Mewtwo, and other rewards.
