Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 shockingly released with no DLC expansions in sight. The community had a mixed reaction to this. While some understood that the studio was probably focused solely on developing Marvel’s Wolverine, others felt like the game lacked playable content after finishing the main story, even on New Game +. Insomniac continued serving the player base, though, dropping unexpected updates in between. Today, they have announced a surprise DLC for all players to enjoy as long as they have a copy of the game available in their library.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Drops Unexpected Surprise
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be hitting the theatres across the globe in a couple of days. To celebrate this international release, Insomniac announced that they will be adding the Fresh Start suit that Tom Holland is seen wearing in the upcoming Spider-Man film. However, the latest patch that the game dropped on PS5 and PC contained a surprise DLC as well.
Alongside the Fresh Start suit, players can also adorn the Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls suit as seen in the upcoming 2D brawler video game. It looks like a high-tech reimagined version of a Spidey suit. Although it may not be as satisfying as getting a story expansion, a new suit DLC is a win for many players who would like to return to the game for a free-roam session or another playthrough.
At launch, there were speculations about a potential Venom DLC where players would play as the Lethal Protector and go up against Carnage. There were also rumors of a potential Daredevil DLC. While the latter idea never made it out of the rumor phase, there have been several reports of a Venom standalone game being in the works. After the unfortunate passing of Tony Todd in November 2024, the game appeared canceled but sources like Evan Filarca on X, who has been following the case closely, suggest that things are still hopeful for all the Insomniac Spider-Man 2 fans out there.
