After months of speculation, two fan-favorite titles are finally making their return to PlayStation. Activision has officially announced the comeback of Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Black Ops, bringing two of the franchise’s most beloved entries back to the platform.

Both of the titles were removed from the PlayStation Store as digital purchases for the PS3 several years ago. Earlier this month, Call of Duty Black Ops and Black Ops 2 were added to the PlayStation Store backend.

Finally, on Wednesday, Treyarch revealed that Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Black Ops will be re-released on the PlayStation platforms.

What can we expect from the Call of Duty Black Ops 2 return on PlayStation?

First released in 2010, Call of Duty Black Ops launched on PlayStation 3, PC, and several other platforms. Two years later, Activision followed it up with Call of Duty Black Ops 2, which quickly became one of the franchise’s most popular entries.

Now, both titles are set to arrive on PS4 and PS5. While reports suggest they could be available as early as July, no official release date has been announced yet. What we do know is that these versions will be straightforward ports of the original games, meaning players shouldn’t expect any remake or remaster treatment. As per reports, port specialist Iron Galaxy is handling development.

Treyarch later confirmed that both games will include their iconic Zombies and multiplayer modes. While full details haven’t been shared yet, it’s also expected that all DLC maps released for the original versions will be included.

One of the pressing questions in the community following the news is what happens to the server. With the return of Call of Duty Black Ops and Black Ops 2, a surge in active players is expected. So, will the server be able to handle it?
