Roblox Select is Globally Available: Here’s What You Need to Know

Arijit Das June 17, 2026

Roblox Select launches worldwide today alongside Roblox Kids, bringing age-appropriate access to games and features across the platform.

Before its worldwide launch today, Roblox Select was first released to a small group of regional markets, including Australia, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, starting on May 19, 2026. Along with Roblox Select, the company also revealed Roblox Kids on April 13, 2026.

With the global launch of the Roblox Select, the platform will now automatically place users into applicable experiences with the help of its age-check systems. The platform has introduced new systems around who users can chat with on Roblox and is excited to help families better understand what their children have access to as they grow older.

Chatting in Roblox Select: What’s New?

For both Roblox Kids and Roblox Select, the platform takes extra steps to ensure the safety of the younger users. For starters, users who haven’t completed their age check cannot chat on the platform.

While ‌users who have self-declared their age will have access to a Roblox Select account, they will not be able to chat on the platform until their age is verified. Following the age check, the users will be placed into the appropriate account type:

  • Age-Checked 5-8: Roblox Kids: OFF (Parent Can Change)
  • Age-Checked 9-15: Roblox Select: Access increases over time (Parent Can Change)
  • Age-Checked 16+: Roblox: ON
  • Self-Declared 5-8: Roblox Kids: OFF
  • Self-Declared 9+: Roblox Select: OFF

There will be chat filters and chat rephrasing available to make the experience age-appropriate for ‌young users. Please note that the age and standard can vary from one region to another.

Parental Controls and Safety Features in Roblox Select

Roblox is excited to help parents understand what their kids will have access to based on their age group. Here are some of the safety features and parental controls available:

  • Parents have the authority to choose whether their children (aged 5 to 8 years) can have in-game chat enabled or not.
  • Parents can set screen time, check the friend lists, block and report users, approve trusted friend requests, and set spending limits until the child turns 13.
  • When parents link their accounts to their child’s account, they can manage their child’s Roblox experience through parental controls.
  • From text filtering to chat rephrasing, Roblox has taken multiple initiatives to make conversations age-appropriate and safe for everyone.

In addition to these, there are other safety features and parental controls we can expect from the Roblox Select.
