Pokemon TCGP Announces Longer New Set Releases Along With Other Changes

Arijit Das October 16, 2026

Pokemon TCGP just announced a new release structure for the upcoming sets in addition to other major updates through the letter from the Operations Team.

Back in August this year, DeNA reported a surprising decline in the player base of the game. Getting the game back on the track has been the main agenda of the developers since then.

On 16th October 2026, @PokemonTCGP took to their official X account to share the development plans and planned updates with the community.

Through the letter from the Pokemon TCGP Operations Team, they revealed quite a few changes and improvements coming our way, which are supposed to retain players’ interest and activity over a longer period of time.

The biggest change that is coming our way is the new release structure for the upcoming releases. Starting with the C series, Pokemon TCGP will now stretch booster pack releases from every four weeks to every six weeks.

In addition to this major feature, there are even more changes concerning decks that are in the agenda.

Pokemon TCGP October 2026 Updates

As mentioned, other than the slower booster pack releases, there are few more changes coming in Pokemon TCGP concerning packs.

For starters, we will soon see a brand-new weekly feature that will include starter pokemon from all 9 regions.

Instead of getting highly detailed ‘immersive cards’ through the standard packs, players will now get them through mission rewards.

Speaking of cards, players will now be able to directly copy deck builds shared by the community right from the in-game interface.

Players will also be able to use rental builds in versus PvP battles now. In addition to all these, there are other QoL and small changes coming our way soon.

The new long set release structure is certainly a major win for free-to-play players. It allows them more time to build competitive decks before the meta shifts again.

With the changes in rental decks, more players will have access to the competitive scene. Beginners in the game can enjoy participation without having to wait for a long time.

The introduction of dual-type cards will shake up the meta and force everyone to think longer and harder as they build their deck and try their luck in the competitive scene.
