Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is entering its third year of post-launch support, with developer Focus Entertainment and publisher Saber Interactive outlining a roadmap that runs through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The Year 3 plan includes two major updates before the end of 2026, followed by three more in 2027. New content includes Chaos Siege, a new multilayer PvP mode, an Apothecary class, additional Operations and weapons, gameplay reworks, and new customization options.
Space Marine 2 Year 3 Roadmap Timeline
Year 3 consists of five major updates, running from Patch 15 through Patch 19. The first two are scheduled for the remainder of 2026, while Patch 17 begins the 2027 portion of the roadmap.
Patch 15 arrives Oct. 1, marking Space Marine 2’s second anniversary. Patch 16 will follow later in 2026, although Saber and Focus haven’t provided an exact release date for the update.
Patch 17 is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027 and will introduce the long-awaited Apothecary class. Patches 18 and 19 will then complete Year 3, bringing further Operations, weapons and gameplay improvements. The developers haven’t yet assigned all of those features to individual patches.
Chaos Siege and New PvP Content
One of the biggest additions coming during the 2026 portion of Year 3 is Chaos Siege. The mode lets players take control of Heretic Astartes and fight for control of Avarax, battling Tyranids as well as Imperial forces and Space Marines.
The current version contains two sectors, with a third already in development. The addition expands the role of Chaos Space Marines beyond their existing PvP appearances and gives players a different perspective on Siege’s objective-based combat. A new PvP mode is also planned for the remainder of 2026. It will use Weekly Stratagems, bringing the modifier system already used in PvE into competitive multiplayer.
Patch 15 will also introduce Crucible, a challenge-focused mode designed for endgame players. It includes class-specific Penances, with players earning Crucible XP and progressing toward the Lamenters armor set.
Apothecary Class Coming in 2027
The biggest new playable addition in the roadmap is the Apothecary. Focus and Saber have confirmed that the class will arrive with Patch 17 during the first quarter of 2027, following months of speculation after the developers teased another class. The Apothecary will also receive its own Champion Skin in the update following its introduction, continuing the approach previously used for the Techmarine.
The 2027 roadmap doesn’t stop with the new class. Focus has confirmed additional Operations and weapons, alongside reworks to several gameplay features and improvements to some of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s core systems.
New Weapons and Customization
The roadmap also includes new customization features, although Focus is keeping some details deliberately vague. One upcoming feature will expand customization options by 33%, while another is described as something that will “put our streaming tech to a test.” The studio hasn’t explained what either teaser means yet.
Year 3 will additionally introduce five Cosmetic and Champion Packs. Four have yet to be fully detailed, while the final pack remains redacted for now. Cape recoloring is also in development, giving players more control over the appearance of their Space Marines.
As with previous post-launch updates, the major gameplay additions aren’t being locked behind the Season Pass. The Apothecary, Operations, weapons, PvP content and gameplay improvements will be available as free updates. The paid Year 3 content is focused on cosmetic additions through the five planned Cosmetic and Champion Packs.
The Last Word
Space Marine 2’s third year is shaping up as another substantial expansion of the game rather than a maintenance period. Chaos Siege and a new PvP mode will arrive before the end of 2026, followed by the Apothecary, new Operations, weapons and broader gameplay reworks in 2027.
Focus is also teasing further customization and technology features without full details still to be revealed. With five cosmetic packs planned alongside the free gameplay additions, Year 3 continues the studio’s established approach of keeping new playable content available to everyone while using optional DLC primarily for cosmetics.
