The Blood of Dawnwalker Begins Recruiting for Future Sequels

Andre Custodio September 9, 2026

Just days after the release of The Blood of Dawnwalker, Rebel Wolves has already begun preparing its team for the future of the franchise. The studio has opened a position for a Lead Writer, who will work directly on the development of what is being described as the “next chapter of the Dawnwalker saga.”

Ambitious Plans for the Dawnwalker Saga

The information was shared by Jakub Szamałek, a writer at Rebel Wolves. In his post, he highlighted the commercial performance of the first game, which surpassed 1 million copies sold during its opening weekend, before confirming that the studio is already thinking about what comes next.

According to Szamałek, the company is looking for someone with excellent writing skills, experience managing teams, and a strong track record within the industry. Among the requirements for the position are at least six years of experience as a writer or narrative designer in video games.

The job listing does not reveal any details about the next title, but Rebel Wolves had already made it clear that The Blood of Dawnwalker was conceived as the beginning of a larger saga.

The first adventure follows Coen during the 14th century and tells a self-contained story, with the conflict against Brencis reaching a conclusion within the game itself. That, however, does not mean the protagonist’s journey ends there.

During Summer Game Fest 2026, the studio presented a teaser showing Coen in the 21st century, approximately 600 years after the events of the first title. The scene serves as an indication of the scale of the story arc Rebel Wolves has planned, although it does not necessarily mean the sequel will take place in modern times.

The idea is to use Coen’s longevity to take the franchise across different historical periods, continents, and cultures, introducing new characters, antagonists, and conflicts along the way. The team has even confirmed that it has already internally decided on the historical period for the next game.

Another element expected to connect these stories is player choice. Bandai Namco previously confirmed that players will have the option to transfer their The Blood of Dawnwalker save file to future games, allowing certain decisions to carry over into subsequent chapters.

Last Word on The Blood of Dawnwalker

Such an early start to recruitment does not necessarily mean a sequel is coming anytime soon, but it reinforces something Rebel Wolves had been saying even before launch: Dawnwalker was never intended to be just one game. The difference is that, after surpassing one million copies in its opening weekend, the studio now has a very convincing commercial reason to keep investing in this universe.

The planned structure could also be exactly what prevents the franchise from becoming repetitive. Keeping Coen while completely changing the time period, culture, architecture, mythology, and historical context gives Rebel Wolves the opportunity to maintain a continuous narrative without forcing every game to revisit the same medieval settings.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
