frostbite July 11, 2026

The Deltarune Chapter 5 update is live, and it is the most substantial patch the game has received since the previous release dropped on June 27. Update 0.0.247 landed simultaneously on Steam and the PlayStation Store, which is a notable change from the last patch that initially arrived only on PC.

Here is a full breakdown of everything the Deltarune Chapter 5 Update addresses.

Deltarune Chapter 5 Update 0.0.247 patch breakdown

Out of the 24 items listed in the patch notes, 17 fall under general game changes. The update covers a wide range of fixes across softlocks, crashes, combat inconsistencies, visual glitches, and UI issues, along with platform-specific memory problems that had been causing random crashes on PlayStation 4.

Game Changes and Bug Fixes

  • Players will no longer receive the JusticeAxe from the hole in CastleTown cliff if the Shadow Crystal was never collected in Chapter 4 on that file slot.
  • Grazing bullets from an aqua miniboss no longer incorrectly extends the duration of attacks.
  • Fixed a display error where the bread-smashing time attack would not correctly show a zero digit.
  • Fixed an issue where a piece of armour designed to increase invincibility frames was not functioning correctly against the chapter boss.
  • Fixed various memory leaks that appear to have been causing random crashes on PlayStation 4.
  • Fixed a softlock that occurred when using Rude Buster during the first phase of the platforming battle before the chapter boss.
  • Fixed an error where scissors would stop dealing damage after a specific in-game event.
  • Fixed the SOUL visually staying inside the birdcage if the Chapter’s first scene was skipped in a particular way.
  • Fixed multiple circumstances where two textboxes could overlap, or where the menu could remain open while the player was able to move.
  • Fixed train blueprints appearing to float in the air, along with various other minor graphical corrections.
  • Various additional minor fixes.

Text Changes

  • The shop in the Cliffs now has new dialogue available in a very specific and obscure circumstance.
  • Credits have been added for the following contributors:
  • Matt Cummings – Festival Concept Art
  • Zu Ehtisham – Platforming VFX
  • Marcy Nabors – Music Assistance
  • The manual in Castle Town now references Susie’s SCYTHEMARE
  • Various minor text fixes throughout.

The PlayStation 4 memory leak fixes are arguably the most practically important part of this patch for a portion of the playerbase. Random crashes are one of the more disruptive issues a game can have, and getting those resolved before more players work through Chapter 5 is a meaningful quality of life improvement.

The softlock fix for Rude Buster and the combat fixes around the chapter boss and the armour invincibility frames are also worth noting for anyone deep in the harder content. These are the kinds of issues that can seriously disrupt a run if encountered at the wrong moment.

Nintendo Switch players will have to wait a little longer, but with the patch already submitted to Nintendo for certification as of July 9, the wait should not be too extended.
