Well, this one’s a tad disappointing but we’re also kind of glad that CI Games is taking the time to cook up a sequel that we’re pretty excited about.
A Disappointing Delay For Lords Of The Fallen 2
A Long Wait Ahead
The upcoming sequel to the 2023 hit has been delayed to 2027, with CI’s founder and CEO, Marek Tyminski, taking to X to share a development update that many of you are sure to be disappointed with. However, we think that the decision is a sensible one, as it allows the team behind an already fine addition to the Soulslikes genre to further fine-tune whatever they have in store for us when Lords of the Fallen 2 finally hits the shelves. It’s also wise to avoid the juggernaut that GTA VI is turning out to be, with a very crowded release calendar from some of gaming’s biggest names looking to precede a release that’s bound to overshadow everything else in its vicinity.

Of course, the delay comes with a statement from Tyminski that’s aimed at assuring us that the game we’re getting is going to be worth the wait. Here’s what he had to say:
“As development progresses, we have worked closely with the Gameplay Feedback Team, a dedicated group of seasoned Souls-like veterans within our Launch Creative Team. Their valuable ongoing input, combined with the team’s vision, has identified meaningful opportunities to further refine and strengthen the overall experience. These enhancements will benefit from additional integration, iteration, and polishing time, enabling the team to deliver the highest possible quality at launch.”

That’s reassuring when you consider the fact that the first game did have its issues when it launched, but was still quite the entertainer, and has since been reshaped into an experience that has us tempted to consider another play through over the holidays to tide over the extra waiting time on the new title. If the promise of a more polished, better integrated title holds true, this one’s probably going to be a treat when we finally get to dive into the world (or worlds) it’s bringing to our screens. There’s no release date at the moment, but we’re hoping that there’s another trailer that’s set to the tune of an Iron Maiden song to look forward to at some point.
