Hideo Kojima is helming another quirky title called OD – KNOCK, more popularly known as “OD”. Kojima Productions first uploaded a teaser trailer 9 months ago on YouTube, teasing the horror game community. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard much about the game. The original teaser was three minutes long, established inside a house, giving the viewers a claustrophobic feeling. While the video featured no clear paranormal entity, it had an unsettling vibe that couldn’t be shaken off. Turns out, Hideo is planning to build on it without making it too much to handle.

Hideo Kojima’s OD Will Try To Please Everyone
Let’s be honest, gamers can’t enjoy every game out there. However, one of the major holdbacks that a non-horror game fan faces from jumping into a scary title is the thought of how scary it could be! Although Hideo will try to make this project as scary as possible, he is also aiming at making it playable for those who are easily scared by horror content. He explained his vision during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“I wanted to go beyond the limit of the ‘scariness’ that other games had reached. It’s a single-player game, and I wanted to make it as scary as possible. But for those who might stop playing when it gets too scary, I have thought of a system that will allow them to keep going. I can’t say much more, because it’ll give too much of a hint on the system, and I could get in trouble for saying too much!”
He went on to discuss this new “system” further, claiming that he had it in mind when working on the first Death Stranding game. While that PlayStation exclusive title had its charm, it wasn’t record-breaking scary, which Hideo wants to rectify with OD.
“I wanted to do something new. I wanted to do something different. I had this OD concept since I was working on DS1 [Death Stranding], and I was working on it just by myself. I can’t reveal much detail, but it’s something that no one has ever seen before. A new game system.”
One of the writers working on this project is Jordan Peele, an Academy Award-winning Hollywood writer. While Peele is popular among Gen Z and Millennials for his comedy skits with Keegan-Michael Key in Key & Peele, he is also known for writing unconventional horror. For example, the critically acclaimed Hollywood films Get Out, Us, and Nope.
Looking at the creative aspect so far, OD appears to be coming out strong. As more details drop on Kojima’s upcoming horror title, Last Word On Gaming will keep you covered.
