Across PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles, Dune Awakening is set to release this September. The preparations for the major release are underway at Funcom, as the team has already announced the first Dune Awakening Closed Beta Weekend Playtest.
On June 19, 2026, @DuneAwakening took it to their official X to share the Dune Awakening Closed Beta Weekend Playtest announcement with the community. The Playtest, which will majorly focus on the performance of the survival MMO, is scheduled to take place from June 25 to June 29.
While the game is set to be launched across PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles, this first Dune Awakening Closed Beta Weekend Playtest will be for PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Pro users residing in North America only.

Before we take a look at the steps to register for the Dune Awakening Closed Beta Weekend Playtest, here are some things Funcom wants you to know:
- Players who have already explored Arrakis on PC and new players can register for the beta test.
- In this Dune Awakening Closed Beta Weekend Playtest, only the multiplayer game mode will be focused on.
- All the players need to agree to a Non-Disclosure Agreement before playing. Streaming, taking screenshots, and capturing footage outside of the game’s private testing channels are prohibited.
- Once the testing phase is finished, the team will carry out a survey to collect detailed feedback from the players.
Please note that Funcom will invite a very limited number of users for the Dune Awakening Closed Beta Weekend Playtest.

Here are the steps to register for the first Dune Awakening Closed Beta Test:
- Head over to the official website of Dune Awakening to find the registration link, or click here.
- Sign up for the Playtest, and it will require you to connect with your Discord.
Make sure to provide accurate information upon your registration. Funcom will send out invitations via email. Players who miss out on the first Dune Awakening Closed Beta Weekend Playtest will be able to register again for the future tests.
