Fortnite Returns to Mobile Gaming

In September of 2017, Epic Games released the mobile version of their top action-packed, multiplayer game. However, it was later removed from the App Store in August of 2020, due to ongoing issues with Apple’s commissions.

The removal of the game shocked millions of players who had come to rely on mobile gaming as a key way to access Fortnite’s fast-paced, cross-platform action. But now, in a dramatic twist, Fortnite is making its way back to mobile, and not just in the way you might expect.

Fortnite’s Comeback

As of May 2025, Fortnite is once again officially available for download on the App Store. This return comes in the wake of increased regulatory pressure, particularly from the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, which has led Apple to relax some of its app distribution policies. Epic Games has taken full advantage of these shifts, reintroducing Fortnite to iOS users worldwide.

The game is back in its full form, with regular updates, seasonal events, and cross-platform play intact. This means that players can seamlessly switch between console, PC, and mobile without losing their progress or competitive standing.
