With its global release planned for June 26, 2025 on mobile and PC platforms. P5X promises to deliver the signature blend of social simulation and turn-based combat that has defined the Persona series, albeit with mobile-friendly tweaks.

New Phantom Thieves and Familiar Faces

P5X has been a long time coming, officially announced way back in 2023, initially soft-launching in China. It was ambiguous whether P5X was going to receive a global release until the official announcement this week. With the game’s release imminent, fans are itching to get back to Tokyo to wield the powers of Persona and develop closer bonds with fan-favorite and new faces.

Introducing a fresh cast of Phantom Thieves, each with unique Personas and backstories that echo the outcast spirit of the original team while carving their own identities.

Party composition within Persona5: Phantom X.The game also features “Phantom Idols” (or “Kaidoru”), cognitive versions of real-world individuals with strong desires, summoned through a gacha system to aid in battle. Familiar faces from Persona 5, such as Joker, Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, and Haru Okumura, appear as these Phantom Idols or in crossover events like the CrossFate storyline, where Wonder’s team collaborates with the original Phantom Thieves.

Fans of the established Persona 5 franchise may be sad to see that the mascot of the game is no longer the black cat, Morgana. P5X follows a different route with the introduction of Lufel, an owl with the ability to communicate with certain humans, and their Persona named “Robroy”, who will be your guide to the Metaverse.
