The Dutch defender has already lined out for some of Europe’s most notable clubs at the age of 23. He’s only slightly worse than Saliba to start the game and has the potential to improve even further.
Sven Botman
Newcastle United had to fend off other major sides to pick up Botman and there’s a reason why they fought so hard. He’s a pretty good defender off rip and can join the elite tier of CBs within a couple of seasons

Flavien-Enzo Boyomo
Real Valladolid’s right-footed CB is a solid discount option for a young CB. He’s already a good passer of the ball which is a necessity in the modern game. He’s also got solid pace and first touch along with a high ceiling for potential.
Maxime Esteve
A left-footed CB from Montpellier, Esteve could be the perfect partner to someone like Boyomo to slot in as the left-sided centre back. He’s got a ridiculous 16 pace to begin the game with 15 strength and the ability to pass the ball. His potential is quite high so he’s got a lot of room to grow into a top defender.
Travis Akomeah
Akoemeah is a project. You will need to give him time to develop but at his best he can stand out as one of the best defenders in the world. He’s got natural athleticism which will only become better with time and a decent passing range for a 17-year-old. If given time to develop properly he could be a massive bargain.
Urko Gonzalez de Zarate
A combined CB and CDM, Zarate is a multi-faceted weapon at 21 years of age. He currently plays for Real Sociedad and has all the skills to become a first-choice defender with a 15 passing rating, 15 positioning, and decent pace.
Oumar Solet
While not the most attractive option on paper, Oumar Solet could be a great purchase in an inflated market. His ceiling isn’t quite as high as some of the players in this article but he will be right underneath that top tier of CBs. His strengths lie in his physical attributes and passing ability. Take a punt on Solet and you could find yourself a real diamond in the rough.
