Electronic Arts (EA) announced three new Star Wars games are coming from Respawn Entertainment. Respawn was responsible for the development of the 2019 release, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order.
Three New Star Wars Games to Be Developed by Respawn
Vince Zampella the founder of Respawn will oversee the relationship between Lucasfilm and the studio as these new games come into development. Stig Asmussen and his team will return to the Fallen Order series to develop a sequel to the 2019 release.
Two other new games are in development. Peter Hirschmann will lead the charge in developing a first-person shooter based in the Star Wars universe. The third release will be a strategy game that will be co-developed with Bit Reactor. Greg Foerstch will oversee development on the strategy title.
No titles or release dates are available as of this writing. Star Wars fans can also look forward to Star Wars Eclipse. The trailer for Eclipse which is set in the Old Republic era was unveiled at the 2021 Game Awards. With the new titles coming from Respawn and Eclipse also being in development the next couple of years are giving Star Wars gamers plenty to look forward to.
The release of Jedi Fallen Order marked a return to single-player story-driven Star Wars games. The game was released to positive reviews from critics and gamers alike. The game was the first story-driven Star Wars game since The Force Unleashed Series. Following The Force Unleashed, EA DICE released the multiplayer-based games Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront II in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
