Doctor Doom has been set up as the ultimate big bad of Marvel Rivals ever since its release in December 2024. Although the story takes our heroes all over the chronoverse, the underlying plot is the feud between Victor Von Doom from the “present timeline” and Doom 2099. One and a half years in, the roster is now packed with 55 playable heroes, but Doom is nowhere to be found. Well, turns out, he may be just around the corner!

Doctor Doom’s Arrival in Marvel Rivals is Coming
Potential Leaks
The community believes there are already not enough playable villains in the game. The “true” menaces that you can play as on the roster are Hela and Ultron, while others are either anti-villains, anti-heroes, or characters that have already found redemption. Doctor Doom will surely be a welcome addition to the roster, considering the push he is getting from the MCU right now as the ultimate big bad leading up to Avengers: Doomsday. Not to forget that he is a fan-favourite villain among avid comic readers and the overarching villain of Marvel Rivals, threatening the chronoverse.
XOX_LEAKS on X has revealed information known to dataminers. According to this leak, Doctor Doom is supposed to join the playable roster in Season 11, which is predicted to set off in November 2026 and last until January 2027, with a mid-season update supposedly happening in December 2026.
If he is added to the game, the community consensus says he could be a Vanguard. However, considering he is a much-loved character and the primary highlight of the in-game lore, the developers might make him a “flex” character, just like Deadpool, who was released as a playable hero at the beginning of this year. If this happens, players from all roles, Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist, will be able to enjoy a slightly altered version of Doctor Doom in the game. Since he has been collecting different forms of powers throughout all these seasons, the writers will have less trouble explaining the reasons behind his flex role.

In Season 3, Knull was the main villain, using Hela, an already playable hero, as his pawn. So, while Victor can continue being the villain after being added into the game, the writers could take the liberty of adding a brand new big bad into the story, and let Doctor Doom play his antics in the background, affecting the story as it unfolds.
The future surely looks exciting, but take the leaks with a grain of salt for now. In case of an official reveal, LWOG will be the first to inform you.
