Most basic non-EX Pokemon can be seen as mediocre cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket. But one of the few exceptions to that is Oricorio, which holds one of the most powerful Abilities the game has to offer.
Here’s everything you need to know about Oricorio in Pokemon TCG Pocket, including the best deck you can use including it.
Pokemon TCG Pocket: Oricorio deck guide
Oricorio attack, stats, and more
Oricorio is an Electric-type basic Pokemon with 70HP. It has the attack called Zzzap that deals 50 damage for a two-Energy cost (1 Electric-type and 1 Colorless Energy) which is quite huge for a 70HP Pokemon. But what makes Oricorio so valuable and must-have is its Ability known as Safeguard.

The Safeguard Ability of Oricorio prevents all damage done to it by attacks from your opponent’s Pokemon EX. It may be specified to just one card type, but this is really useful in the current meta since most decks rely on Pokemon EX to be their main damagers. Just imagine a Charizard EX hitting a whooping 200-damage attack to Oricorio but just makes it nullified? Absolutely satisfying, right?
Best cards to play with Oricorio
Greninja
Since Oricorio is more used for its Ability, putting in Greninja for added damage is ideal for the deck. Its Ability called Water Shuriken can deal a stable 20 damage each turn to 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon. This means that it can also knock out Pokemon from the Bench, making it easier to target Pokemon which escaped from the Active Spot and eventually knocking them out.
Giratina EX
One of the most reliable heady damage-dealers in Pokemon TCG Pocket, Giratina EX’s Chaotic Impact attack deals 130 damage for five-Energies (3 Psychic and two Colorless). Its Broken-Space Bellow Ability, on the other hand, fuels up the Energy needed for Giratina EX since it gets a Psychic-type Energy from the Energy Zone but makes the turn end when this activates. Still, Giratina EX is a great partner Oricorio because of its given offensive firepower.

Oricorio/Giratina EX/Greninja
Oricorio’s wall prowess alongside the offensive engine provided by Giratina EX and Greninja is a great strategy in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Just know the correct timing when to switch out your Pokemon to prevent your opponent from knocking out your Pokemon and gaining points. But using a deck centering around these 3 key cards is a powerful move, and you can use it to climb up the ranks.
