Borderlands 4 Trailer: Chaos Unleashed
The trailer starts with a mysterious man drawing electricity from a shard of vault tech sticking out of the ground. It’s quiet and ominous — but that doesn’t last. A monstrous figure with glowing eyes appears, staring straight into the camera and questioning how useful Vault Hunters really are. Then everything kicks off.
A glowing spectral cat leaps onto a bandit, tearing into them. One of the new Vault Hunters is right behind it, blasting enemies without breaking stride. Another Hunter charges in next, smashing through more bandits. Then the camera pulls back to reveal a giant purple dinosaur-like creature, covered in bandits riding it like it’s just another boss fight waiting to happen.
We’re introduced to another Vault Hunter who shows off a slick new ability. She traps an enemy inside a glowing energy orb, then hurls it to the ground like a grenade. It explodes on impact, taking out everything nearby. Clean. Quick. Devastating.
Next up is the final Vault Hunter reveal. We get a glimpse of his face before his mask snaps back into place. He lifts his gun, fires at the screen — and just like that, we’re dropped into gameplay.
From here, the trailer goes full throttle. Gunfights break out across different environments. Every Vault Hunter shows off their powers. Enemies swarm in. The new weapons look incredible — one shot shows a machine gun absolutely shredding foes. Another moment freezes mid-action to spotlight a grenade’s unique effect. Over-the-top? Yeah. And that’s exactly the point.
The trailer shows off a bunch of different biomes too. We see icy wastelands, vibrant green forests, and rocky areas filled with ancient stone formations. There’s a real sense of scale and variety.

Then comes the loot — because of course there’s loot. A Vault Hunter steps into a room glowing with color-coded treasure, clearly emphasizing just how much loot players can expect. The purple cat companion reappears, along with new enemies like robotic spiders wearing bandit helmets (because sure, why not).
We get a quick glimpse of a structure with massive bones sticking out of it exploding, with Vault Hunters diving out just in time. A fast montage follows, showing off different vehicles you can drive — all looking wild and heavily modded. Then things turn darker.
A voice announces a citywide curfew, while civilians are shown trapped in cages. The warning is clear: break the rules, and you die. A massive figure in a yellow mask appears, standing in front of a red-lit poster — likely showing the true leader of the enemy forces, watching over it all like some kind of twisted propaganda.
More enemies get revealed. One of them is a massive, mutated Goliath — half-dressed, with one arm armored and the other bare, its gut mostly exposed, and the classic bandit mask completing the look. Finally, all four Vault Hunters are shown together, sprinting out of a stone building. The last moments hit fast — more explosions, more combat, and a glimpse of a massive black beetle-like creature with dozens of magical limbs and glowing purple energy pouring out of it.
The New Vault Hunters in Borderlands (and Other Wild Details)
Let’s talk about the new crew — and yeah, I already have a favorite.
Starting with Vax who I’m probably the most excited to play as. She’s a mercenary, but more importantly, she’s the newest Siren in the franchise. Her powers are all about supernatural phase energy, and there’s a ton of kinetic chaos going on — she can either channel that elemental energy into her weapons or summon minions to help out in a fight. One of the coolest reveals? She can conjure a spectral cat named Trouble, which is actually based on one of the developer’s real-life cats.
Then there’s Rafa, a former soldier from Tior, and the kind of character that feels built for players who love fast, hard-hitting action. For starters, he wears an experimental exo-suit and can pull all kinds of tech out of nowhere — from razor-sharp arc knives to shoulder-mounted cannons. Plus, He’s incredibly agile, and I already know the speedrunners are going to break the game with him in some beautiful way.
Next up is Harlowe, a former Maliwan combat scientist who decided gravity is just a suggestion. In fact, in the trailer, we see her quite literally lift enemies into the air and slam them into the ground like rag dolls. What’s more, there’s a really clean, controlled brutality to her — you can tell she’s a tactician, someone who fights with precision and zero chill.
Then there’s Amon, who easily has one of the most bizarre and intriguing setups. A cult that worships monsters raised him (which, you know, normal childhood stuff), Meanwhile he physically controls forge drones living inside his spine. What’s crazy is that these drones can transform into different weapons — a sword, a spear, a whip — like he’s walking around with an armory built into his nervous system.
The Setting: Welcome to Kairos
The game is set on Kairos, a mysterious planet that had been hidden for thousands of years by a figure known as the Time Keeper. He maintained control over the planet’s people through:
- Bolts — cybernetic implants fused to their spines.
- The Order — his army of synthetic soldiers.
That all started to fall apart about six years ago, when the planet Elpis (yep, that one) showed up out of nowhere. After being teleported away from Pandora at the end of Borderlands 3, Elpis crashed into the veil surrounding Kairos — setting off the chaos that brings us to this game.
Returning Fan Favorites
It wouldn’t be Borderlands without familiar faces popping up.
- Zane (from Borderlands 3) is back.
- Additionally, Moxxi, who’s basically a franchise staple at this point, returns as well.
- And yes — Claptrap is back. My all-time favorite character, and I will not apologize for it.
