Wanderstop Steam Deck Performance Analysis

Wanderstop is thankfully optimised well for the Steam Deck both visually and for the controls. It plays on the console’s resolution so there’s no black bars or squishy screens that you get from some older titles. It also fully supports the joypad layout making it a breeze to control.

To get consistency you do have to limit this one to 30 FPS and while the console can handle the high quality visual settings, it will get quite hot and can have some battery drain. There’s a more suitable Deck usage with the medium visual settings that can last longer without putting pressure on the console.

The visual changes can save about an hour on battery drain if not more depending on how undemanding the chosen settings are. A move towards a mostly medium graphical output will sustain for longer than high-quality visuals with room to spare even below the medium setting.

There are no signs of the game crashing on the portable console or there being any difficulties launching it. Those can be two major issues with poorly optimised Steam Deck variants but Wanderstop navigates them expertly.

All in all, Wanderstop is ideal for Steam Deck users. It has full flexibility on the visual settings allowing you to fine tune how you want to play to either extend the battery life or get a perfect visual short stint of game time. It controls perfectly, has no text issues, and launches and plays without a problem. It’s a firm thumbs up from this particular Steam Deck user.
