KARMA The Dark World Steam Deck Performance Analysis
If you’ve seen anything about this game you might be able to guess it is an absolute monster to run. It is made for native consoles or high-end PCs which means that the game is a bit too much for the Steam Deck.
As it is this game will have massive performance drops with some areas and cutscenes being too much for the console, it can lead to a very erratic experience with the game’s frame rate jumping up to 60fps only to visually crash out on the player.
There are some things you can do to even this out like lower visual settings and a 30 FPS cap with a smaller screen resolution but that comes at the cost of hurting your own experience with different screen resolutions even leading to subtitles being cut off at times.
One positive is that there’s currently no reports of the game crashing during launch or during gameplay. That means if you’re willing to deal with the visual limitations, you can at the very least experience this game and what it has to offer.
To sum up, KARMA The Dark World isn’t an ideal Steam Deck port, it is a very demanding game that won’t work on high graphical settings and sacrifices a lot to get a consistent frame rate that doesn’t burn battery life. If you’ve got any other console then it would be ideal to play it there but if you’re a Deck only player and NEED to try this one out then you can at the very least play it through without crashes or play issues.
