With the release of version 1.0 and a full launch, attention is now back on Inkbound and specifically the Inkbound Steam Deck performance. The game had previously played ok but with a jump to full release, questions were raised about whether the handheld could keep up with the full version.

Inkbound Steam Deck Performance Review – How Well Does it Play?
While the game did receive a Steam Deck compatibility rating of ‘Playable’ anyone with a Deck knows that this is a very vague definition. The real test can only come by playing the game itself.
I am happy to report that Inkbound on the Steam Deck plays really well. It is able to keep up a consistent graphical performance and doesn’t suffer many gameplay lags when the screen gets too busy, although the final boss fight can test the limitations of the hardware.
The full game release came with full Steam Deck controller support which means it is no longer on the player to map out a control system that works on the handheld.
You may need to play around with the settings a bit to avoid overheating like avoiding the 60 fps output and locking the game to 30 but it is playable and doesn’t suffer from too many technical issues.
