2023 in gaming has officially begun with some major and indie releases too. Sean has some significant One Piece Odyssey impressions and also some for Space For the Unbound as well.
Unfortunately, the big tech layoffs have hit Xbox and Bethesda, especially for many at 343 Industries, which has put the future of the Halo franchise in doubt. Marc wonders if this is more of the same bad news for Microsoft, especially when paired with the news that Google and NVIDIA have also voiced concerns over the Activision-Blizzard deal too. Could this make it even tougher for the big purchase to go through?
The only thing that seemed to go right in video game-related things was the NPD sales for the year and The Last of Us HBO show premiere. Aside from thoughts on the first episode, there are also discussions on Callisto Protocol‘s low sales, Ubisoft’s underperforming in a variety of areas, Square-Enix officially announcing the end of support for Marvel’s Avengers, and much more.

Sean Garmer has a long history with video games, since childhood. But truly, things got serious when he discovered Pokemon on the Gameboy, and thus his Japanese RPG fandom was born. Sean has channeled that love of games into reviewing them. He also analyzes the games industry on the Video Games 2 the MAX podcast and he is an Editor and Reviewer for LWOG, along with writing for various other gaming sites too. Sean pretty much plays any kind of game nowadays, but he still prefers his first love, the JRPG.
Marc Morrison brings years of experience writing about games (and of course, playing them) to Video Games 2 the MAX. He currently writes a Top 8 column every month at 411mania and also reviews games for them as well. Marc plays all different kinds of games and takes analyzing them to heart.
