You Should Be Playing Pokémon Café Mix

Published on:

It’s been easy for people to miss the release of Pokémon Café Mix which has quickly become a fan favourite.  With the major releases of The Last Of Us Part 2 and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, which we recently reviewed, the gaming world has been focused on these releases for better and worse. Let’s talk about why you should play this game!

Visually Beautiful

The appeal of the Pokemon game to many is the characters and finding a favourite pokemon that you love the look of. This new release takes that effect and boosts it to the max. The animation from the game isn’t taken from your typical Pokemon game but instead has a more stripped-back aesthetic. The characters are made to look much more cute than battle-ready and this helps the game immensely. It becomes a treat to see new Pokemon visit your cafe just to see how well they are going to look. Charmander, in particular, is the cutest looking character we’ve ever seen.

Fun & Laid Back Experience

Unlike some other recent game releases Pokémon Café Mix is a very laid back and it is also a fun experience. The game also provides the player with short term goals to keep you interested but never overwhelms. Even the gameplay itself is not too troublesome thanks to the variety of powerups available. This is coming from someone that isn’t the biggest fan of puzzle games. The story moves quickly and you feel like you are genuinely helping to make a successful Cafe by completing orders to unlock new ingredients and cooking tools.

It’s FREE!

More important than anything this game is free and free is always good. While it does keep some of the downfalls of the free game genre like microtransactions and needing to wait real-time for the limited number of lives to replenish. However, the game can easily be played without ever spending money. This is because you only lose lives if you fail a level which isn’t likely to happen too much. Given the current climate and often insane prices of games, it’s really great to have a cute, fun Pokemon game available on Mobile and the Nintendo Switch for free.
