Moros Protocol Review
- Title: Moros Protocol
- Developer: Pixel Reign
- Publisher: Super Rare Games
- Primary Genre: FPS, Roguelite, Sci-Fi
Gameplay
The game places the MC into a randomly generated area with just a melee weapon. Each path taken can lead to a room with enemies, a chest, or possibly a new weapon. There’s different things to balance like health pickups, ammo, and darklight used to earn upgrades.

It’s a game where the quickest path isn’t always the best path and it can be a better idea to find some new weapons or a vendor to improve weapons before advancing. Balancing that kind of risk/reward can make each run different.
Enemies have fairly basic attack patterns with the main difficulty being numbers, the guns can make life easier but a lot are easily taken out with melee attacks which can either be quick or charged.
The fun comes from the fact that almost nobody will complete the full run on their first attempt. Moros Protocol allows the player to collect a reusable element that can be used to purchase permanent upgrades, making the MC’s starting point stronger, adding HP, stamina, and even the option to start with a ranged weapon and a melee weapon.

This adds another bit of strategy to the gameplay as some players may opt to take the long way around each level to collect as much as possible to earn better and better upgrades for subsequent runs.
Atmosphere
I was rather impressed with how scary and creepy the game actually was. Despite having retro graphics it had some pretty eerie visuals. There are rooms full of monster corpses or drenched in red, the first boss fight happens in a sea of blood and guts, it’s a genuinely scary vibe.
The whole game throws the MC in to the deep end at a place where danger is at every turn. While horror isn’t the main point of the title it is definitely something the developers strived for and did it better than a lot of studios would have given the graphical limitations this game had.
Moros Protocol Review – The Last Word on Gaming Viewpoint
Moros Protocol is a really unique release in the current landscape. It has a great atmosphere, a difficulty spike for bosses, and a replayability that will make it last. On the surface it’s just a randomly-generated shooter but its mechanics delve a lot deeper and will make strategists drool.
