MLB The Show 26 Best Teams to Rebuild Guide

This MLB The Show 26 Best teams to rebuild guide will focus on the franchise mode in the newest major league baseball release. Beyond taking your favourite team to the big time, one of the better joys in modes like this is reviving the fortunes of a team in limbo and rebuilding them to glory, in this I’ll be looking at some of the best candidates for an in-game rebuild and what to focus on. MLB The Show 26 is available now on multiple platforms.

MLB The Show 26 Best Teams to Rebuild in Franchise Mode

Colorado Rockies

After a historically bad season with over 100 losses the Colorado Rockies invested over the summer and come into this season looking slightly better off. They have added some veteran presences to the lineup and have a solid pitching roster, including Kyle Freeland, Jose Quintana, Michael Lorenzen, and Tomoyuki Sugano, and some more interesting names.

On the other side of the equation, you’ll be looking to add to the attacking firepower of Ezequiel Tovar and Hunter Goodman while maybe trying to use the game’s trade logic issues to flip Kris Bryant for some more effective batters. The Rockies are no longer a far-and-away awful team but it’s on you to make the leap with them.

Washington Nationals

The Nationals have already failed a real-life rebuild attempt and are currently in the worst position of any team, limbo. They need direction and that is what you can provide at the helm of this ballclub. They won 66 games in 2025 and most projections have them staying the same this season which just isn’t enough for fans of the franchise.

There’s not much worth holding onto in Washington, you can reasonably attempt to build around James Wood but there’s so much work to do around him with the pithcing bullpen also in need of an overhaul. Washington is a blank slate completely.

St. Louis Cardinals

Possibly one of the most fun teams to rebuild in this year’s game the St. Louis Cardinals realised they were pleateauing and spent the off-season bolstering their ranks with younger talent. There is a new era brewing with a number of franchise names and veterans departing in the off-season.

Dustin May was brought in as a free agent while prospects JJ Wetherholt and Masyn Winn represent possible future stalwarts. You also get the chance to be the one to help Jordan Walker or Alec Burleson put it together as these once highly sought after talents have struggled to make an impression so far. The Cardinals are a ship in need of a steady hand, which you can be the one to offer.

Chicago White Sox

The White Sox have been bad for a while now and despite a reshuffle over the off-season they still look set to be a losing team this season. There’s no clear path to glory with the White Sox but they have enough decent players on short term deals and prospects with some value to make them an interesting proposition. You’ll have to be at your most frugal to trade every piece available for something of value while drafting smart in order to turn this operation around.

LA Angels

The obvious appeal to rebuilding the LA Angels is the presence of one Mike Trout, the legendary player presents a fun challenge of either trying to win with him or finding the best course of action for life after Trout by trading him to reset the rebuild. There’s a lot of room for the team to improve depth-wise which could take some smart free agent signings or strong trades to earn.
