This FM26 new goalkeeper wonderkids guide will look at the post-January update that changes the database for good. Commonly known as the winter update, this adds January transfers to the game and changes the ratings and potential of many players. In this, I will be focusing on goalkeepers who have emerged in update 26.2 for you to sign. Football Manager 2026 has been the most controversial entry to the series in some time with Steam having it on mostly negative reviews, with newer reviews staying mixed.

FM26 New Goalkeeper Wonderkids List – Best Young Goalkeepers in Winter Update
Florian Hellstern
VFB Stuttgart have been a favourite of the SI team with a number of young prospects being highly rated, including youth shot-stopper Dennis Seimen. In the newest update they have added young Florian Hellstern to that group with the teenage goalkeeper potential ratings among young players. He has earned this designation with his performances in real life in the thrid division for the B-team.
Edoardo Motta
A January move to Serie A side Lazio has seen Motta emerge as one of the higher-rated young shot-stoppers. A former Juventus academy player his new potential rating has him on par with names like Mike Penders and Guillaume Restes in terms of future ability.
Joao Pedro
It’s not a football manager update without a Brazilian starlet emerging. Sao Paolo youth system player Joao Pedro has come from nowhere to become one of the best FM26 new goalkeeper wonderkids in this title. He’s still young and could be available for a good fee if you’re liking for a bit of a bargain option.
Alber Castelau
Real Madrid already have one of the game’s finest goalkeeping prospects in Ferran Quetglas, but in the winter update we have seen Alber Catselau added to the ranks of their prospects. The Argentine is still in the academy so he’s an upside swing but he is talented enough for Spain and Argentina to have competed for his representation at the international level.
Plamen Andreev
Slightly older than some of the names here, Plamen Andreev belongs to Feyenoord but was on loan with Racing Santander, having struggled for minutes, he has now gone to Lech Poznan where he’s more likely to work his way into the first team setup. Being on loan means he won’t be easily available in your saves but he is an option to asses for a second year signing as his potential is still relatively high.
Robin Risser
RC Lens are another team that FM tends to bless with good prospects and Robin Risser is the newest name on their list. He isn’t an elite potential player but for a lot of players he will be a strong number one option who could hold down the number one spot for some time. His improvement has arguably been less than people expected, given he has played for Lens all season as they sit second in Ligue 1.
