This FM26 Mobile best tactic guide will dive into the mobile port of the game and put forward one of the best tactical ideas we’ve had so far. I’ve been playing Football Manager for quite some time and have put thousands of hours into the series so when it comes to game breaking tactics, I’ve got some ideas. FM26 Mobile is available via the App Store and has been reviewed well in comparison to its PC counterpart having a 4.2 rating as of this writing.

FM26 Mobile Best Tactic Walkthrough
Basis
The ideal for a tactic in recent FM games is to consider how you can get the most bodies into the box. The 4-2-3-1 is the easiest way to create an overload without having too many defenders, a 4-3-3 is the other alternative but can be harder to create a balance so to go with the meta, we’re going with a gegenpress 4-2-3-1.
Player Roles
The main player roles are focusing on where the wingers, full-backs, and pivot move. The centre-backs will both be standard ball playing defenders, the striker can be anything that involves staying high like Advanced Forward or Poacher.
The wingers are set to invert, either inverted winger or inside forward to add two bodies to the box crashing. The attacking midfielder can be a Second Striker if you have a good one to add a fourth body attacking the box.
The wing-backs are set to wing-backs with attacking overlaps, providing width and stretching the opposition defense.
Goalkeeper is a sweeper to be a part of sparking attacks and makes them more likely to rush out and stop attacks that bypass the back line.
The pivot is the area where you have some versatility; you can have both set to win the ball and focus on defensive actions or if you’re not getting enough goals you can set one to be a deeper playmaker or an extra box crasher to have 7 different bodies attacking the box. This one is up to you and your risk averseness but I’d usually try for a more defensive pivot.
Team Instructions
Standard gegenpress options with a high line, closing down everywhere, offside trap, standard tackling.
Set to look for overlaps, work the ball into the box, mixed passing style, passing focus is both flanks.
The team mentality is set to attack with the width being wide and passing tempo faster. The other options won’t make a huge difference but can be fiddled with to see what works best for your players.
Please Note
This tactic isn’t guaranteed to work for everyone and your players will need to fit the system. A gegenpress with slow, small defenders will give up goals. The same goes for the pivot if both defensive midfielders are bad at defending. The players need to fit the roles and have good stats for dribbling, crossing, finishing etc. to make this work to its fullest potential.
