CS:GO is now a thing of the past, Counter-strike 2 is the new sheriff in town. We’ll look back on its rich history and take a look at the people who were the best of the best of this coveted franchise. This is still an objective list, there are a lot of great players in CS:GO. This will be a mix of their trophies, impact on the game and most importantly, their individual performance. If we only base it on their accolades then this list will only be filled with the peak Astralis roster.

Greatest CS:GO Players of All Time

5. coldzera – rifle/AWP

Arguably the best Brazilian player of all time. The only thing that hinders him from reaching the top 3 spot is that his dominance was only short. He was the HLTV best player of 2016 and 2017 and has won 2 CS:GO major. In these 2 years he was dominant, outstanding and almost unplayable. He also made the most iconic play in CS:GO, the jumping AWP.

4. dev1ce – AWP

The AWPer of the best team of all time. Some even say he is the Greatest Player of all time because of his achievements in this game but were not here to look at their trophy cabinet alone. He was never the best player of the year and that really puts a dent into the GOAT conversation. He is sometimes called the “thinking man’s AWPer”, he does not do any fancy plays in the server but what he does is make the right play at every scenario given to him.

3. NiKo – rifle

The best rifler this game has ever produced. He holds AWP angles but with a rifle but still wins the duel most of the time. He has no Major under his belt but he always dominates the server.  He also does not have a HLTV no.1 player of the year award but he always inserts himself as a top 5 or top 3 in the list every single time while being a rifler and dying a lot as an entry fragger.

2. ZywOo – AWP

Currently considered to be the best player in the world right now, the only thing that stops him from taking the no.1 spot is the existence of ‘s1mple’. He is the HTLV no.1 player of 2019 and 2020. He was also the HTLV no.2 player of 2021 and 2022. He is the most consistent player of all time though, he never makes a mistake on the server. ZywOo carried a struggling Vitality team ever since he was placed on the roster and now they are one of the best teams in the world. They were able to win the last CS:GO major and ZywOo is undoubtedly the MVP.

1. s1mple – AWP

The best player of all time. When you ask someone who played CS:GO who is the GOAT, most probably the answer is s1mple. He is an all around player, he AWPs to perfection, he can win clutches, he makes unbelievable plays on the server and his confidence is like no other. Yes, he had some issues like being a bad teammate and being toxic on the server but he has already overcome those and is now a better person.

He was the HLTV no.1 player in 2018, 2021 and 2022. The times where ZywOo won, s1mple was really close 2nd. That reality shows how good of a player he is. He has only won 1 major in 2021 but they won in a very dominating fashion, not losing a single map the whole tournament. Just like what they always say about s1mple, one in his name, one in the game.
