Romance Matthew Guide in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
Matthew is distinct in that there are times when you can’t give him gifts. If you see him with his hands in his pockets then he won’t accept gifts and you’ll have to wait for him to walk around. With that out of the way, here are some of his preferred gifts:
- Milk
- Eggs
- Home Cooked Meals
- Medicines sold by Van:
- Hyper Drink
- Energy Drink
- Power Drink
You can find his diary on the ground floor of Vesta’s house. It will be on the table on the right-hand side of the room.
You can usually find him on Vesta’s farmland be it on the grounds or in the house. He also visits bluebird cafe and the river at times. As always, you can find his exact location using the map if you can’t find him at his usual spots.
To raise his heart level it is best to interact with Matthew and give him multiple gifts per day from those he really likes. You can also make the most of heart events where you’ll be given clear dialogue options to advance the budding romance.
Be careful not to watch other characters have too many heart events or they will get married and could steal away your chosen love interest
How to Get Married
You can propose by getting a blue feather and giving it to Matthew. The blue feather is acquired automatically during a cutscene after Day 10 but doesn’t guarantee acceptance. Whether it is Matthew or any other character a higher heart level will give you a higher chance of the proposal being accepted. Anything over 8 hearts should be enough to secure a yes, but there’s no guarantee.
There is an alternative method where a player will approach you to get married, you’ll be given a list of people who you have a good heart level with and whoever you choose will arrive at your house ready to propose.
