Milwaukee Bucks
In a post-Giannis world, the Bucks are a team in limbo. They have no discernible star player and a few very movable contracts. The team has some solid role players to provide back up but aside from Ryan Rollins there may not be anyone worth waiting to see develop. Your goal with this team is to find your new star, whether that’s through the draft or shifting enough contracts to make a splash in free agency is up to you.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies have torn it all down, once the most exciting team in the league led by the trio of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr, and Desmond Bane, they are now without any of those three names. They are a team in need of some direction, Cedric Coward and Zach Edey are two strong young pieces, new draftee Cam Boozer is one of the most hyped prospects in recent years, and Isaiah Stewart is a contract you can wait out or move off. Decisions have to be made but the Grizzlies have the freedom and youth to make a big splash under the right management.
Sacramento Kings
The beam have been nothing short of a mess since they parted ways with the coach who ended their playoff drought. The once fearsome attack led by De’Aaron Fox is now a collection of contracts that nobody else wants to take on with only the ill-fitting Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis as notable talent.
The Kings are in need of a complete teardown, their depth is poor, they’ve tied up money in two guys who aren’t on the level, and they need pieces badly. Rebuilding the Beam will take a lot of work and some patience.
Dallas Mavericks
Cooper Flagg was hailed as one of the best prospects in College ball for some time. Winning the lottery to get him was a godsend for the Mavericks but in NBA 2K they’re still a team in need of a lot of work. Washington Wizards
A team right on the precipice of some important decisions. The Washington Wizards appear to have it all to some degree. They have stars in Anthony Davis and Trae Young, they have prospects in Alex Sarr and AJ Dybansta, but putting that all into a winning unit is a challenge. They have some dead weight in the ageing Khris Middleton and Deandre Ayton as well as the age of their two main stars to consider.
For any GM, making the money match is the first challenge, but deciding who to embrace and what stars to focus on could be just as important.
