This FM26 New Wonderkid DMs guide will look at the post-January update that changes the database for good. Commonly known as the winter update, this adds January transfers to the game and changes the ratings and potential of many players. In this, I will be focusing on the defensive midfielders who have emerged in update 26.2 for you to sign. Football Manager 2026 has been the most controversial entry to the series in some time with Steam having it on mostly negative reviews, with newer reviews staying mixed.

FM26 New Wonderkid DMs List – Best Young DMs in Winter Update
Christ Inao Oulai
The Turkish leagues and Turkey itself have received quite the boost in this year’s winter update as a Trabzonspor midfielder from the Ivory Coast emerges as one of a host of DM prospects. Signed from Bastia in the summer, he has been a regular for the Turkish side all season and has seen his value skyrocket among scouts.
Demir Ege Tiknaz
From Turkish team to Turkish international, we have Braga midfielder Demir Ege Tiknaz as one of the other big winners of update 26.2. He is now lined up as one of the better defensive midfield prospects, toeing the line between an elite player and a great player. He made the move from Besiktas in January so he won’t be eligible for a move in your first season but that gives you plenty of time to scout him.
Caleb Yirenkyi
Playing for FC Nordsjaelland, the versatile midfielder is one of the graduates of the Right to Dream academy who has come up through the clubs youth system. As a central midfielder, right back, or defensive midfielder, he has been a regular for the Norwegian side this season, which has seen his potential jump to the level of Jack Hinshelwood or Jorthy Mokio.
Amadou Kone
Good luck prying him away from the riches of Neom SC but if you can, Amadou Kone is a very solid DM choice. The Ivory Coast international was part of the setup at Reims after impressing at youth level internationally before being picked up by Neom who have pumped money into the club and pay him some eye-watering wages for a 20-year-old.
Cajetan Lenz
For a name you don’t see an awful lot, our last detailed profile on this FM26 New Wonderkid DMs list plays for VFL Bochum in Germany. Having come up through the academy, Catejan Lenz has played regularly for the second division outfit, clocking in over 2,000 minutes in this campaign. His performances have seen the developers recognise him as one of the many DM talents to keep an eye on in Europe.
