The Last Caretaker Steam Deck Performance Analysis
One big issue that players will face on Steam Deck is the text size. The game’s UI and inventory is littered with small text and button prompts that are very difficult to make out. Small text is one of the main issues with Steam Deck versions and would likely need to be patched to fix, if the developers even have time to focus on such a task.
For a game of this scale, adjustments absolutely have to be made. I changed the settings to an FPS cap, lower resolution, no borders, and made some other visual tweaks so the game wouldn’t lag. Impressively, with these in place the game does run pretty well as I had no serious visual lag despite the game’s jam-packed rooms and demanding size.
Last thing to note, the game is predictably quite demanding on the battery life of the system. Even with my limited visual output the system got quite hot and the battery probably wouldn’t have lasted more than 4 hours, at maximum visual settings this would likely decrease by a lot too.
If you’re a Steam Deck user and interested in The Last Caretaker then you can play it with some adjustements, it’ll just have to be in some smaller increments to handle the battery drain.
