Blue Prince Steam Deck Performance Review
The game launches without a problem which will bring a sigh of relief to any Deck user. Launch issues can be one of the biggest signs that a game is poorly optimised but this one doesn’t fall into that category thankfully.
Visually it is a clean playthrough, it can withstand 60FPS gameplay for the most part but that will both drain the battery and cause issues in crowded rooms with a lot of detail, the option is still there however for those who want it.
At 45FPS this is basically perfect for the Deck, it takes less battery, has no visual problems, and looks fine. You can’t go wrong with that kind of visual output on the portable console.
The game’s controls pretty easily map to the Deck and provide no issues. There are no reports of the game crashing due to being overwhelmed during gameplay nor is there any sense that there’s game breaking lag even at the higher graphical settings.
All things considered, Blue Prince is pretty seamless on the Steam Deck. You can choose to deal with occasional stutters at higher definition or play on a smooth 45FPS the entire time, either one is perfectly valid and functional.
