Gambonanza The Grandmaster Boss Walkthrough
The Grandmaster has three different phases, marking its status as the final boss. These phases unfurl as you take its HP down, with the final phase kicking in when it’s got less than a third. Before entering this fight it is ideal to equip the King’s Counter, Queen’s Gambit Counter, a Heal Board, and to hae some teleport gambits available.
First Phase
The first phase is the easiest, the Grandmaster will play normally with standard moves and patterns that players will be able to recognise if they’ve made it this far. Play conservatively here and preserve your boss gambits and better abilities.
Second Phase
This is where the difficulty kicks in as the Grandmaster is able to use the gambits of the seven boss fights to make moves. This can be difficult but players noted that it works in a fixed pattern that can be countered if you know what’s coming. The second phase sees the Grandmaster use gambits in the following order:
Rook – Bishop – Knight – Queen – King – Pawn – Castle
Just load your counter a turn early and you’ll be able to avoid the worst of this phase.
Final Phase
This is obviously the hardest section of the battle as the Grandmaster gets aggressive and will have near-perfect AI. This is where you unleash your best gambits, use the Ultimate Counter if you have it to spare 1 turn worth of damage and stave off destruction.
