Gold Gold Adventure Gold is the debut effort from developer Can Can Can a Man. In this Gold Gold Adventure Gold Review I will detail my experience playing on Steam Deck and why the game came off as a miss that lacks in any real depth.
Gold Gold Adventure Gold Review for Steam Deck/PC
- Title: Gold Gold Adventure Gold

- Primary Genre: City Builder, Simulation
Gameplay
The loop is fairly standard, build up your town to earn Gold and recruit new units. There’s a slight roguelike aspect too with the randomly assigned Perks that can either offer new recruits or added buffs/spells.

Setting up “quests” and defending the city becomes the main focus of the game afterwards. Occasionally, there’s a dungeon or a border point to explore/destroy but otherwise it’s pretty straightforward.
I found the gameplay to be quite lacking, the tutorial and advertisement give off the idea that I’m responsible for defending the town, that I can set units to defend in the right place or build defences to keep out the waves. But in execution, it’s all a bit loose. Units just stand around doing nothing when a wave attacks, defend quests get ignored because a unit is busy, and there’s very little sense of control beyond just where I place buildings.
I was initially given the sense that the gameplay would be far more hands-on, but it’s very hands-off for the most part and a lot of the time it felt like the decisions I made barely had any impact on what was happening in battle.
Controls
I played this game on the Steam Deck and it..was an experience. It wasn’t properly optimised so there was a lot of pressing buttons for trial and error purposes to find out what would work and what wouldn’t. The camera isn’t really suited to being controlled by the Deck and at times would just drift a lot without me knowing why.
Visuals
The game does look nice. The character animations when they’re fighting have clearly had a lot of effort put into them and the units all have a very distinct style. The game’s scenery mixes up the terrain and colour palette to keep each new bit of ground discovered looking fresh.

Gold Gold Adventure Gold Review – The Last Word on Gaming Viewpoint
Gold Gold Adventure Gold is a decent management simulator if you’re just looking for a casual experience. It isn’t the most taxing city-builder nor will it put your reactions to the test but there’s enough to handle between perks, units, and buildings to keep the player interested.
