For some reason, there is no way in this game to charge batteries and store energy. The Power Cells have to be bought and used as needed. This is an interesting choice on the devs end but the title has now made a full release so it’s unlikely this will be changed anytime soon.
The only potential option is to sell back the used cells in a sort of “recycling” scheme to help fund future power cell purchases. You’ll only get back a small percentage of the price paid but every little helps.
It’s not impossible to believe there’ll be an update which could add a reusable energy source considering this is a game in space, but as of now you’ll have to buy Power Cells anytime you need energy.
