Mario Kart 8 Deluxe — Booster Course Pass Wave 2 DLC Announced for August Release

Published on:

After months of waiting, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe fans will soon have some new content to sink their teeth into. On July 28, Nintendo announced that Wave 2 of the DLC included in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass will release on August 4. This new wave brings 8 additional tracks to the game’s offerings, and while the majority of them are from previous Mario Kart entries, one is entirely original. The first wave of DLC was released this past March on Nintendo Switch. Altogether, the Booster Course Pass comes with 6 waves of DLC.

What to Know About New Tracks Set to Release in August

As was the case with the first wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, the second wave consists of 8 tracks, evenly broken up across 2 cups. Furthermore, the majority are derived from previous Mario Kart entries. It would seem that the mobile entry to the franchise, Mario Kart Tour, saw the most attention, though less recognized entries such as Mario Kart Super Circuit for the Game Boy Advance illustrate variety. See the full list of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Wave 2 tracks below.

  • Sky-High Sundae (Original Track)
  • Kalimari Desert (Mario Kart 64, Nintendo 64)
  • Mario Circuit 3 (Super Mario Kart, Super Nintendo)
  • Mushroom Gorge (Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo Wii)
  • Sydney Sprint (Mario Kart Tour, Mobile)
  • Waluigi Pinball (Mario Kart DS, Nintendo DS)
  • Snow Land (Mario Kart Super Circuit, Game Boy Advance)
  • New York Minute (Mario Kart Tour, Mobile)

The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is priced at $24.99 USD, including 48 tracks across the aforementioned 6 waves. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC pass is also included as part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack; the individual membership is priced at $49.99 USD.

Last Word on Gaming Viewpoint

It’s been a few months since the first wave of DLC was released, so the time is right for more content to hit Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Despite being released in 2017 – 2014 when counting the Wii U version – it remains one of the most popular titles on Nintendo Switch. The inclusion of Waluigi Pinball appeals to me as a fan of the Nintendo DS entry, but seeing Super Mario Kart’s version of Mario Circuit return is also welcome from a nostalgia standpoint. As new waves of DLC are added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the value of the game in question will only increase.

Are you excited to play the Wave 2 DLC tracks as part of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass? Which ones stand out to you the most?
