MPL Philippines Season 16: Smart Omega snatches opening match over TNC

MPL Philippines Season 16 kicked off with a bang after featuring two teams with revamped rosters going head-to-head in the first match of the season. Smart Omega faced off against TNC Pro Team, with the former securing a 2-1 match victory.

MPL Philippines Season 16: Smart Omega vs TNC Pro Team Game Breakdown

Game 1 : Smart Omega takes over

Smart Omega and TNC went on to begin game 1 strong after scoring 1 kill each. This went until the start of the mid game with Smart Omega taking on 6 kills, while TNC closed out with 4. But the tide of the game changed after a massive mid lane clash led by Smart Omega’s jungler Raizen, giving his team a hefty 12-4 lead. Smart Omega closed out the game with Raizen scoring 7 out of 13 kills.

Game 2: TNC bounces back

Raizen continued to use the hero he used in game 1 which is Fanny. But it was a different story this time as TNC scored an early 3-1 kill and 2,000 gold lead. This went on until the late game since TNC’s offense snowballed, scoring 15 kills over the 5 of Smart Omega. TNC got the victory on the 13th minute mark of the game, with the team’s midlaner Lancecy using Selena hailed as the game’s best player.

Game 3: The smarter prevails

With the series on the line, both teams entered game 3 with strong offensive strategies. Smart Omega scored 3 kills in the early game, but TNC followed-up with 2 kills of its own. Still, Smart Omega’s EXP laner Jeymz using Phoveus went unstoppable after setting-up his team’s offense, giving 2 kills and 4 assists with no deaths. Smart Omega took home the win after listing an 8-2 kill score.

Match Stat Highlights:

  • Raizen scoring a total of 11 kills on the 3-game series
  • Hadji using Pharsa for all 3 games
  • Winning teams per game on the whole series all got the Lord march

What’s Next?

Smart Omega looks to continue its winning streak, with its next match against AP Bren happening tomorrow. As for TNC, it will face defending MPL champion Team Liquid Philippines this Sunday.
